Light is faster than sound. That explains why some people appear bright until they open their mouths!

In awe of these spectacular vessels, imagine my delight to stumble on this yacht race and be able to walk alongside the yacht tied up in Cannes harbour, chat to the crew and get close up shots of the deck cabins and fittings!

Though Shamrock dates back to 1930, it has had several refits and in its current guise, its sailing gear has been totally upgraded to light alloys and I’m sure the deck winches are likewise very up to date. That said (though I didn’t get down below) the whole superstructure and cabin fit out have been kept in line with the elegant yacht of the 1930’s era.

Unfortunately, though I only got to see the start of the first race, there was NO wind and so I didn’t get shots of the full sail rig. This was a real disappointment.
