Advanced Motorcycling Training
Are you looking to undertake Advanced Motorcycle Training or considering the Police “Bike Safe” Course? Feel unsafe on the bike, come off recently or returning to motorcycling after a long break? Live or ride in the Thames Valley, Berkshire, Hants, Hampshire, Surrey areas or a radius of 30 miles from Wokingham? Read on.
Very ordinary bikers like you also decided that they needed advanced training and after undertaking an initial free trial ride, signed up. After just one ride out you will really appreciate the techniques that this Advanced Riding training teaches you. Like many other bikers, you could go on to coach riders and help increase safe biking skills, join club rides or undertake a whole host of other activities. This is not an elitist institution. Give it a try
....YOU WON’T BE DISAPPOINTED, IT MAY SAVE YOUR LIFE!
This is a personal recommendation that every biker should undertake this amazing advanced motorcycle training with the Institute of Advanced Motorists (IAM). It is a training program in roadcraft skill development.
First and foremost it will make you a safer motorcyclist, but it will also greatly enhance your riding experience, especially if you enjoy high speed riding.

The training builds on your existing skills as a motorcyclist and it doesn’t matter if you have just passed your test or been riding for 40 years or more. You will be assigned a personal Observer and can undertake specialist courses, join social ride outs and much more.
Thames Vale Advanced Motorcyclists Group (TVAM) meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month at St Crispins School in Wokingham (RG40 1SS). Over 300 motorcyclists can turn up on a good Sunday and the group boasts the largest memberships in the country. Members come to this group from other areas due to its reputation. Make a note in your diary now

My Story
I joined as an associate member after 5 years riding a Harley, in what can best be described as a born again biker after a short spell of commuting when I first married. I consider myself a mature, safe rider but I had always considered taking up some form of Advanced Motorcycle Training, maybe with the Police “Bike Safe” Course, when I met the IAM team at a local show and they convinced me that this was not an intimidating course for expert riders. At my first meeting I received a free trial ride out with a Senior Observer and immediately signed up. A one off payment of £139 covers the cost of the test and 1 year’s membership to the IAM.
I am a slow rider on the whole and initially thought I would feel out of place, suffer from peer pressure from leather clad racing types and struggle to get through the process. The more members and associates I talked to the more I realised that they too felt the same way in the beginning. They too are just ordinary riders who enjoy biking and many had riding issues to overcome.
After just a few lessons it became obvious how simple the techniques are to improve riding skills and become a safer rider. After a while, when you see other bikers out on the road you can really quickly identify riders who have undertaken this course and you’ll be alarmed at the bad, frequently unsafe practices of other riders on the road. You REALLY must give this a try and if you don’t live in my area then look for your nearest regional club.
