Light is faster than sound. That explains why some people appear bright until they open their mouths!
A long term visitor to this beautiful National Trust property, I frequently walk through the woodland and upon arriving at the site of the old bridge, have a craving to re-instate the bridge to its former glory. The link to the woodland would be re-established, visitors could stand and view down the length of the beautiful lake and I would love to see the single horse and trap cross the bridge, if indeed that was the former style and use of the bridge? The bridge is at the far end of the lake near the meadows and woodland and can be identified by a pair of brick pillars and two brick foundations in the middle of the water.
I have only just added this feature and will set about researching the former bridge and have emailed the National Trust to see if a restoration could be undertaken

Bridge over The Vyne - ambition to replace the missing bridge over the lake
This is not the Vyne Bridge, but could be the type of elegant structure that once graced the lake. (This bridge is on The Thames just west of Eton meadows near Windsor)
Why not leave a comment by just entering your name and a message. If you have a picture of the former bridge, I would love to add that to the site
This picture shows the gateway to the bridge with one of the support bases in the water. The gateway suggests a large bridge to carry a horse and trap. The Vyne was closed so this is not the best picture but I will get more in a few weeks time.
This picture, shot looking up the lake is the kind of view to be had on the original bridge. Whilst any restoration project at the Vyne will serve the long term pleasure of visitors, I am convinced that the bridge will be enjoy by so many in generations to come. Wether you cross to the woodland, take in the view of the lake, feed the birds or just day dream, the bridge needs restoring as soon as possible.
